Sickle Cell Holiday Party

This December, I kicked off my holiday season, by volunteering with Lifting Families Together at their annual Sickle Cell Holiday Party. Lifting Families Together “LFT” is a 501©(3) nonprofit founded by Mrs. Ava Holland. LFT main focus is improving the quality of life of children with health care issues in the Houston area; through programs that empower children and their families. LFT partnered with Texas Children’s Hospital to provide presents and a meet and greet with Santa. “Seeing the big smiles on the kids’ faces while they opened their presents really warmed my heart.” There was one little boy who kept following Santa around. After the meet and greet we played games like bean bag tossing, pin the carrot on the snowman, making arts and crafts and etc…  During the party we heard classic Christmas song such as Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman and “my favorite” Santa Baby. Lastly, for dinner LFT provided every child’s favorite meal pizza and light bites. This was a great experience and I look forward to more events from Lifting Families Together.   If you would like to get involved or make a donation here is a link to their website https://liftingfamiliestogether.org/  and contact number 832-947-3018. Fashion Show

This past Saturday I was invited to attend The Project Fashion Show Winter ’16, thanks to Tag Team Entertainment, Myeeka Ferguson and Xavier James. Project Fashion Show gives some of Houston’s elite insiders to pick some of the finest Designers to come together for one night to show case next season’s newest and hottest trends. The Fashion show was held at Global Motorcars of Houston in Stafford this was an excellent venue its open concept and surrounded with luxury vehicles like Mercedes Benz, Jaguar and Lamborghini. Upon entering the venue the sounds of local artist filled my ears. I then noticed Houston’s very own platinum selling artist Slim Thug was in the building. After socializing for a few minutes the fashion show started.  The designers were Chasity Sereal, Travis Cal, Richard and Grace, Char and Leigh Bridal. They featured styles from frill gowns, ruffled skirts, body-con maxi dress’s, urban wear and wedding dresses. They created unique garments made of many different eye catching concepts like sequence and pastel colors, on textures such as silk, leather, cotton, jeans and mink. Throughout the night we were served light bites. “The marshmallow covered Reese with a graham cracker bottom was my favorite.” The Drinks were sponsored by Jack Daniels there was the Tennessee Whiskey Sour and the Jack and Jill made out of Gentleman Jack; while the Bee Hive was made out of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey. At the end of the night we were given Jack Daniels gift bags which included an exclusive pair of Jack Daniels Socks, headphones, legendary notebook and a cookie. Overall the show was great, not only did it give these designers a platform but also partial proceeds go to Tag Team Entertainments’ “Donate-A-Meal program.” This program gives full course meals and beverages to the less fortunate in the downtown Houston area. If you like to donate I have posted a link to the site down below. Also there are pictures down below and be sure to comment and subscribe if you like.

Chef’s Night Out

On November 17, 2016, I was invited to attend the 2nd annual Chef’s Night Out presented by Modern Luxury Interior Texas.  The event was held at the marvelous Cosentino Center in Houston. Upon entering the venue we heard the rhythmic sounds of Dj Rogelio of Lewis Grell “LG Entertainment and Production LLC.” Chef’s night out allowed Four International Interior Design Association professionals from Houston to join forces with four of Houston top chefs to create the best dish of the night. The Pairs were Louise Nicholson Carter of Skyline Art Services & Chef Harold Wong of The Fish featuring their Golden Beet baked in soil, In-house made yogurt, Red Quinoa and Arugula. Next was Kelie Mayfield of Mars Culture & Chef Arturo Ostorio of Amerigo’s Grille with Polpo; a Charred Octopus, with radish, pickled vegetables and citrus. “This dish was so good I never knew octopus tasted like chicken. My motto when it comes to food is don’t knock it till you try it.” Manuel Navarro of Ziegler Cooper & Chef Ivan Ortiz of Cafeza served smoked pulled rabbit and charred rabit skin wrapped in nopal, set on a yucca chip in a bed of cornmeal and mesquite salt sand, and garnished with crushed sumac berries and elote flowers. “This dish was my favorite I loved the rabbit.” Last was Marilyn Archer of Gensler & Chef Jose Hernandez of Radio Milano they  served a dessert dish; a Chocolate Folie Gras Parfait featuring hazelnut meringue with chocolate truffle, caramel drizzle ice cream on top of a salted pretzel.  For drinks we had champagne, wine, Agua Fresca and Southside Royal from Hidrick’s Gin. We even sampled the smooth taste of Glenfiddich Scotch. Towards the end of the night we voted on who made the best dish. Overall it was a very tasteful night and I am looking forward to next year’s Chef’s night out. Thanks to Modern Luxury Interior Texas for inviting me. I have provided pictures down below also be sure to comment and subscribe if you like.
