Dec My Room

Last month, I was given the chance to cover Dec My Room’s Spring Into Fashion. The event was held on the third floor of Neiman Marcus in the Galleria to help Dec My Room celebrate 10 years of business. Dec my room is a non-profit organization with the mission to create healing places for kids in the Hospitals all around Houston; by decorating a child’s room with the theme of their choosing. This is truly heart-warming for it shows how a sense of love and personal style can change an ordinary room to the perfect healing place. Not only did I learn about Dec My Room, but I was given an exclusive first look at Neiman Marcus newest spring 2017 collection. The fashion show was emceed by channel 13 news anchor Gina Gaston. Also my friend Mr. Remington the publisher of Modern Luxury Houston even hit the runway. There was even a silent auction to benefit the organization. Throughout the night we were served Hor d’oeuvres like beef skewers and signature drinks. This was an excellent experience. Thanks to Courtney Barta and Kathy French for giving me this great opportunity. I have provided pictures down below along with a link to Dec My Room. Thanks for reading and be sure to comment, subscribe and share if you like.

Vermillion SS17 Presentation

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending KYRA presents Vermillion Spring Showcase 2017 (SS17) Presentation.  KYRA clothing is a couture apparel brand in Houston. The Spring Showcase ’17 was held at the creative space Ronin Art House. Designer Kemi Alao explained to me that the Vermillion SS17 was inspired by tropical fish. She was so intrigued with how colorful they are and yet how translucent they appeared. Inside Ronin Art House Kemi models were arranged in an open U shape, with some standing on elevated platforms covered in netting. There was even art work from Johnathon Paul Jackson in background. The setup made you feel as if you were on sea voyage as you walked around the Vermillion collection. The collection itself consisted of many different color cloths from royal blue, bold red, and bright yellows. She blended different color fabrics like light bronze and dark emerald to make her items pop. Kemi did a great job at catching the viewer’s eye; a couple of her dresses were almost solid with a splash of color. Not too much but just enough to balance  it. While a few of her other designs she incorporated netting and rope material; I loved this because it resembled the colorful and translucent look she had told me about. At the end of the Vermillion SS17 showcase I was very impressed with the collection. I realized that KYRA Clothing is not afraid to take risk and that the risk she takes is what sets her apart from other designers. I tried not to give you so much detail, for I have for provided pictures of the collection down below along with a link to her site. Also do not forget to subscribe and comment if you want.

Front Row Houston

Last Wednesday, I had the privilege of covering the 1st annual Front Row Houston: Fashion Show Presented by CHKMTE. Front Row Houston gave young fashion luminaries the resources and audience to bring their brand exposure to a more global market. It allowed the designers to showcase the hottest trends coming in 2017. The fashion show even gave a portion of its earnings to Mothers to Mothers Organization. Mothers to Mothers Organization is a nonprofit dedicated to preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV by providing education and support to pregnant women and mothers living with HIV.  The fashion show was held at The Gallery, a two-story palatial like venue with an all brick structure.  Upon entering the venue I heard the sounds of Dj Shante of 93.7 on the ones and twos. “She kept us grooving all night”.  Next I saw Mr. Irvin Randle aka insta-famous #MrStillYourGrandma preparing for the show. After socializing for a few minutes, I went upstairs to see the rest of the venue. While upstairs I was served champagne and light bites provided by Café Natalie. The light bites consisted of shrimp spring rolls, mini beef sliders and my personal favorite the chicken Diablo Empanada. Next I made my way back downstairs as the show was getting ready to start. The designers for the show were Chasity Sereal, Travis Cal, AMATI, Richard and Grace, Preston Douglas, Charles Johnson “War Official”, and Dieuest. They featured styles from street wear, women’s wear/couture, Alice and Wonderland inspired and bridal wear. They created unique garments made of many different cloths, linens and fabrics such as silk, leather, cotton, mink and sequence. This was a very successful night the house was packed with constant owes and ah’s as we starred in admiration. I’m glad Front Row Houston was the second stop of my Super week.  I have links to some of the designer sites down below. Bliss Expo

On January 17th, I had the pleasure of covering Love Wins Texas Weddings – Bliss Expo.  Love Wins Texas Weddings is one of the publications under SagaCity Media along with Houstonia Magazine. The Bliss Expo was very exquisite, for it embraced the importance of marriage equality. The expo took place at the industrial chic Astorian.  During the expo a live musical ensemble played as we mingled with vendors.  Among the vendors were David Alcorta Catering with his delicious desserts. He served chocolate mocha cake pops, Italian cream cupcakes with coconut, pecans and cream cheese frosting and my favorite sugar pecan cookies with dulce de leche filling. Mezlan was also here showcasing their handcrafted and very suave loafers. Oda Creative with their luxury bespoke invitations. Also at the expo was First Class Staffing Services, the classy choice for attendant services. Throughout the night we were given creative cocktails like “Something Blue”  a Texas Whiskey with fresh blueberries and “First Kiss” a lip tingling Dulce Vida tequila margarita all curated by Magnolia Bay Custom Bar Services  and light bites by A Fare Extraordinaire. Next up was the bridal fashion show featuring pieces from Bravo Suits & Tux, The Ivy League, Mezlan, Miles David and Unbridaled. The sequin shimmered dresses and suit jackets were my favorite. Lastly, everyone participated in a charity raffle with the proceeds going to Legacy Community Health. Overall, it was a great experience and I look forward to more events this month’s issue of Love Wins Texas Weddings. There are pictures down below and be sure to comment and subscribe if you like.

Couture Fashion Show 2016

On December 15, 2016 I was given the pleasure to attend /cover Houston Fashion Week’s Couture Fashion Show 2016.  Thanks to Mr. Victor Quinteros; he is very art-eclectic. For the Couture Fashion Show he partnered with D.I.F.F.A. Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, KR Model Agency, Houston Black Car, and Sax Clothing.  His Shows are the land of opportunity for designers. He loves to help people get their name out there. But that doesn’t mean he will let anyone into his show. There must be some type of passion and dedication shown in your work.  The Couture Fashion Show was held at the lovely Haras Hacienda. Upon arrival we were treated to a Bailey Irish Cream Chocolate Lux cocktail. This Show was all about metallic fabrics that give off a gem-like resemblance. For example, there were Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Amethyst and Diamond. The models looked stunning as the light reflected off their garments. Overall, I enjoyed the show and can’t wait to see Mr. Victors’ next line of clothing. I have provided pictures down below and feel free to comment and subscribe if you like.

They featured styles from frill gowns, ruffled skirts, body-con maxi dress’s, urban wear and wedding dresses.      Last Friday; I was given the opportunity to attend/cover the first Fashion X Houston presented by Cadillac. The event took place at the spacious Silver Street Studios. The show featured designers from the TV series Project Runway and some of Houston’s very own local designers. Fashion X Houston showcased all types of styles such as luxury, wedding and regular every day attire. From different color cloths, linens and fabrics such as velvets, minks, shinny silks, pure whites, bright reds, passion purple bold black and vibrant blue. They even had an open bar with vodka, rum, whiskey and Chloe wine “my favorite by the way.” All throughout the night they served light bites, for instance mini beef, chicken and turkey sandwiches. Fashion X Houston also had different local venders as well from clothing to accessories for both men & women. Cadillac even provided a slow motion cam video shoot; along with showcasing a few luxury vehicles. This was perfect because it provided the audience with things to do either before, after and during the intermissions of the show. It was a great privilege and honor to attend/Cover the show. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward to next year’s show. Also before I forget, thank-you Matt and Rachel for allowing me to attend/cover the show. There are pictures down below for your viewing pleasure and if you like comment and subscribe.
